In August my wife and I traveled to Los Angeles (well, Orange County, really) for my cousin’s wedding.

We planned on spending a few extra days in the city afterwords, and the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! was at the top of my sightseeing list. My wife Julie broke out the DSLR and took some pretty amazing photos that I thought I’d share with Oppositelock.

One of the Petersen’s current special exhibitions is “Precious Metal” - all significant cars from different eras rendered in silver paint, including that 1957 625/250 Testa Rossa above, a McLaren F1, Bugatti EB110, a M-B W196, and a Scarab. It was my favorite part of the museum, and I think these cars in particular take to black and white.

If you find yourself in Beverly Hills, the Petersen is well worth the $15 gate fee.

Enjoy!

This 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Scaglietti made me feel funny things.

Lots of shots of me looking pensive.

Amazing shots! The more I see of the Petersen museum the higher it gets on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing!

I agree, I think it can’t go much higher on my bucketlist anymore. Can’t they just pick it up and move it to Europe? Or would that be selfish of me, haha

Thanks! It’s been on my list for years, but LA just isn’t on our travel schedule all that often. The LA County Museum of Art is right across the street, so you can have a whole “museum day” in one block!

Your welcome, I figured this post matched their interests too. And I’m stunned by the beauty of these black and white shots!

Yeah, I would too. I guess somewhere in the middle of Belgium would be ideal, haha.

Look, I’m not a hard man. You can have it anywhere you want, given the Bugatti stays in Paris.

Well, I was thinking Belgium would be doable for both of us, haha.

I guess we can split the Bugattis, they’ve got multiple 57Cs anyway.

I’m not sold on the Peterson’s “pool of light” display. The museum is quite dark with the cars displayed under spotlights.

I like the Nethercutt collection in Sylmar.

That’s really interesting - we were both commenting on how dark it was in there, especially in the hall with the pre-War cars, which I think needed more light to capture a lot of the intricate interior detailing on those coachbuilts.
